Range

Circumpolar; Southern Ocean; Generally between 30S and the pack ice;
Breeds on Kerguelen, Crozet, Auckland, Antipodes, Macquarie, Prince Edward (?), Marion (?) and Campbell (?) Is.
Disperses to waters in the s. Pacific off s. Chile (w. entrance to the Straits of Magellan between 75 and 90W), in the sc. Pacific between 166W, 48S and 94W, 41S, and in the s. Atlantic off the coasts of Argentina and South Africa (consistently between 3E, 58S and 12E, 50S, numerous at 8E, 46S and between 19W, 61S and 22W, 62S). Concentrates in the s. Indian Ocean between 52 and 64S, off s. Australia (Western Australia to the Dampier Archipelago, South Australia, Victoria (Portland) to n. New South Wales (Cape Howe and Wollongong), 128E, 46S), Tasmania, New Zealand (North and South Islands, ca. 320km e. of Wellington in the Spring and Fall).
