Ne. and s. tropical South America;
Two populations;
E. and s. Brazil (Bahia (Chapada Diamantina)), c. Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and n. Argentina. Isolated populations in ex. se. Peru (Rio Tambopata, Madre de Dios, Puno) and c. Venezuela.
Disperses n. in s. Amazon basin during the non-breeding season.
