(1) Kuril Is., Commander Is. and perhaps also on the se. coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula (Siberia) through the Aleutians to Sanak Is.
(2) is. off s. Alaska from the Alexander Archipelago, Canada (British Columbia, w. coast of Vancouver Is., Queen Charlotte Sound and Is. at Cox Is.) and the nw. United States (Washington, Oregon to n. California).
Disperses from the Bering Sea ice pack s. to Hokkaido and more rarely n. Honshu, Japan, Volcano and Hawaiian Is. to s. California.
North America n. of Mexican border
Summer: ALK (Aleutians and is. off the s. coast from the Alexander Archipelago s.), BCO (the w. coast of Vancouver Is., Queen Charlotte Sound and Is. and Cox Is.), WAS, ORG s. to c. CAL;
