Highly fragmented distribution;
(1) C. and se. Russia to the Ural Mountains e. in Siberia to Mongolia.
Winters to s. China and Indochina.
(2) Himalayas of n. Pakistan, n. India (Kashmir e. to Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur), se. Tibet, Bangladesh, w. and sc. China, Burma and Thailand.
Winters in s. India.
(3) S. India (Mysore to Kerala).
(4) Nw. Manchuria, Korea, and Japan (Hokkaido to c. Honshu).
Winters in Taiwan and Lanyu Is.
(5) N. Ryukyu Is. (Amami-O-Shima).
Winters in s. Thailand, s. Vietnam and Taiwan.
(6) W. Indonesia from Sumatra, Java, Bali and Lombok.
Populations of undetermined or undescribed races occur on the s. Ryukyu Is. (Iriomote Is.) and Taiwan.
