Coastal sw. Africa;
Breeds off Namibia (Walvis Bay to Sylvia Hill including Cape Cross and Bird Rock) and South Africa (Cape Province).
Disperses between 2145'S and 2320'S into the Benguela Current and n. to n. Angola (mouth of the Congo River) and and possibly Gabon e. to Durban, South Africa (Strandfontein, Western Cape) and ex. s. Mozambique.
