Bolivia (La Paz, Oruro on Lake Poopo and Lake Coipasa, and Potosi) and nw. Argentina (Jujuy on Lake Pozuelos, Salta, Catamarca, Tucuman).
Sometimes disperses as far as the Pacific coast(?).
