Siberia in the Altai and nw. Mongolia, nw. China (w. Sinkiang), n. Pakistan s. to Baluchistan and nw. India (Kashmir and Garhwal).
Winters in Turkey through the Middle East in Arabia and Pakistan to n. India and s. Tibet. Some birds occur in ne. Africa in the Nile Valley and e. sub-Saharan Africa (Kenya).
