RangeS. Europe; Nw. Africa; Arabia; Sw. and c. Asia;
(1) S. Europe (Portugal in the Baira Baixa Region along the upper Rio Tejo, Spain, France in the Massif Central, Bulgaria, Turkey), nw. Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia), ne. Egypt, the Middle East in Jordan (Wadi Araba in s. Jordan River Valley), Arabia and Iran, Transcaucasus, Transcaspia, Turkestan, Tadzhikistan (Pamir Mountains) and ex. sw. Siberia (Altai Mountains).
Migrates across the Straits of Gibraltar, the Bosporus and Suez in October and November.
Winter s. to Senegal, Mali and Niger, and in small numbers, e. to the Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia.
(2) Afghanistan, Pakistan (Baluchistan, Sind) and nw. India (Gujarat and Assam).
