N. Canada (Prince Patrick Is., n. Ellef Ringines, Meighen, Queen Elizabeth Is., se. Ellesmere Is., and n. Baffin Is.). N. Greenland (Disko Bay). Svalbard. Franz Josef Land. N. Novaya Zemlya. Severnaya Zemlya to Herald Is. (New Siberian Is.).
Winters in pack ice between w. Greenland and e. Canada (Newfoundland).
