RangeNe. Pacific Ocean;
Known to bred only in coastal Alaska (Kenai Peninsula and Barren Is.) and nw. United States (w. Washington and c. California in the Santa Cruz Mountains), but probably nests at other sites within this range, since nests are difficult to locate high up in tall trees. Recorded in the w. Aleutians (Attu Is.) and coastal w. Canada.
